To provide support to the Fleet Manager and Superintendents to enable them to ensure all company vessels under their control are maintained in a safe and seaworthy condition in accordance with the requirements/instructions issued by the client, the Company’s senior management, flag state administrations and classification societies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Fleet Managers and Superintendents in monitoring vessels under their control to ensure all statutory requirements concerning safety, procedures, plant and machinery are complied with and ensuring appropriate records are maintained
- Assist in the monitoring of planned maintenance systems
- Assist in the monitoring and inspection of logbooks, abstracts and periodic returns
- Assist in preparation of appropriate reporting to the Fleet Managers, Fleet Directors, Ship Management Director and client as appropriate of periodic ship visits, inspections and drills
- Assist in maintaining technical files and promulgating technical bulletins as appropriate necessary for the safe and efficient running of managed vessels
- Assist in Co-ordinating and monitoring the efficient, safe and economic provision of all services required for ship operation including where appropriate port services, agents, bunkering, storing, surveys and contracting services etc
- Assist the Fleet Managers and Superintendents in the preparation of annual operating cost budgets within their area of expertise and ensuring all costs associated with the vessel’s technical operations are correctly predicted and allowed for
- Assist in verifying and authorising the price and availability (P & A’s) quotations obtained by the purchasing department in respect of spares, supplies and services for vessels not under shipboard management
- Any other duties as required by the Company’s senior management
- Occasional travel as required
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Fully completed cadetship/HND
- Degree in Quality or related discipline
- 3 Highers or Diploma or equivalent in a related discipline
- Good organisation, analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team and autonomously.
- Proven ability to work to targets and deadlines.
