The Northern Marine Group has strengthened its Training services provision with key senior management appointments.

John Abate, former Managing Director of Maersk Training UK, has been appointed Global Head of Training overseeing the Group’s Training portfolio which includes subsidiaries Clyde Marine Training (Cadet management) and Clyde Training Solutions (marine, offshore and renewables training).

John said: “It’s an honour to join the Northern Marine Group to head up the global training business portfolio.

“The Group has a justifiably strong reputation in delivering outstanding customer service, developed over many years of robust operations across many sectors.

“The subsidiary brands of Clyde Marine Training and Clyde Training Solutions have also built up strong track records.

“In keeping with the wider Group ethos, the long-term vision is to build a training business unit that expands upon our tailored solutions to further meet the customer need exactly, be they corporate or private clients.

“The aim is to achieve this locally, nationally and internationally using the synergies that exist between the parent and subsidiary companies, whilst concurrently expanding the course portfolio and developing value added services.

“I am looking forward to working with all here to turn that vision into reality.”

Further to John’s appointment, Clyde Marine Training has appointed Thomas Campbell as its new General Manager.

Thomas transfers from within Northern Marine Group having managed Northern Marine’s international cadet pool and latterly overseen seafarer recruitment and development for the Asian Continent while based in Manila.

At Clyde Training Solutions, Kris McDonald has been promoted from Training Centre Manager to General Manager following years of significant achievement in building customer experience and expanding the Company’s marine, offshore and renewables training portfolio.
