Northern Marine has expanded its methanol dual-fuel tanker management activity, with two newbuild MR vessels Largo Aurora and Largo Aries joining the managed fleet.

This marks a further step in strengthening Northern Marine’s proven, in-service experience in methanol dual-fuel operations. Over more than four years, the Company has developed the operational procedures, training and technical oversight required to support these vessels in service.

This experience has also informed wider industry development, including Northern Marine’s contribution to DNV’s competence standards for methanol-fuel operations.

The vessels are managed for Orion Global Transport France (OGTF), extending an established relationship into methanol dual-fuel tanker management.

Both vessels are dual-fuel, able to operate on methanol as well as conventional fuels. While increasingly specified in newbuilds, effective operation depends on well-established procedures, trained crews and disciplined day-to-day management.

Martyn Kelly, Fleet Manager – Fleet Group 6, said the addition of the vessels reflect the continued expansion of Northern Marine’s methanol dual-fuel operations.

On the recent delivery of the Largo Aries, he added: “The delivery was completed to an accelerated schedule, requiring a high level of preparation and coordination, with the team ensuring a smooth and timely handover through strong cooperation, efficiency and commitment to safe operations.”

The addition of these vessels further diversifies Northern Marine’s methanol dual-fuel management portfolio across multiple owner groups.

As fuel pathways continue to develop, the focus remains on applying proven operational experience to support safe, reliable performance in service.

These latest additions reflect Northern Marine’s broader experience managing complex vessels across multiple sectors, with methanol dual-fuel operations forming one part of that wider capability.
