Medical Instructor

Due to growth, Clyde Training Solutions, part of Northern Marine Group have an opportunity for a Medical Instructor to join their team in Clydebank. The Medical Instructor will be responsible for the delivery of medical courses aimed at the Maritime, Offshore and Renewables industries. This role will also involve periodic delivery of entry level First Aid courses.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Delivering industry approved medical courses (STCW, GWO, OPITO, & Bespoke events). 
  • Supervising and teaching delegates during medical courses and other applicable training events. 
  • Carrying out delegate competency assessments against the required course criteria. 
  • Maintaining all specific physical resources used on medical courses 
  • Ensuring stock levels of consumable items are accounted for and new orders are communicated to management in a timely manner 
  • Attending periodical operational meetings. 
  • Managing your weekly training schedule, set by the Lead Instructor, in-line with the agreed monthly rotations 
  • Promoting a positive safety culture around the worksite.  
  • Maintain and update courses to meet approval standards, following the Companies process and systems such as ISO 9001 but not limited to. 
  • Occasional travel as required.

Candidate Requirements 

Essential 

  • Experienced in medical industry with professional qualification  
  • Significant experience in nursing or similar role in the medical profession 
  • Demonstratable experience in delivery of medical courses 
  • Able and willing to work to flexible schedules/ shifts and commit the time required to get the job done 
  • Knowledge of industry approved Medical & First Aid practices   
  • Knowledge of equipment used for Medical & First Aid emergencies. 
  • Good communication skills. 
  • Good organisation of teams. 

Desirable 

  • Possess active registration within the UK to practice nursing or equivalent  
  • Previous experience in a similar role 
  • Worked offshore /at sea or delivered training in this environment 
  • First Aid qualified 
  • Knowledge of industry training standards & associations (OGUK, OPITO, STCW, IADC, APi etc.).
