Senior Crewing Officer - FTC 12

Ensuring that the company vessels assigned to their control are manned with properly qualified, experienced, and competent personnel. Ensuring that documentation and certification compliance is always maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct responsibility for all personnel related matters and queries for personnel placed on vessels under their responsibility which frequently includes liaising with spouse and/or other family members.
  • Assume overall responsibility for all personnel related matters, in the absence of the Team Leader.
  • To support Team Leader in supervising of staff by offering support, guidance and direction to personnel department and other internal parties when required.
  • Liaison with the operations/technical departments and where applicable Senior Management and/or Client regarding the assignment of personnel aboard company managed vessels.
  • Routine supervision of the external manning agents. Liaising with external manning agents on crew being assigned to the company’s vessels
  • Directly responsible for ensuring vessel compliance with respect to all employee personnel files, vessel files and database records necessary to accurately record employee locations, documentation, certification, training, and payroll in accordance with company policies and standards, whilst adhering to payroll deadlines.
  • Liaison with Logistic Officers and Assistants to ensure crew changes are conducted successfully in line with Company policies and standards.
  • Reviewing seafarer appraisals with fleet group and identifying training or development needs.
  • Coordinate Senior Officer appraisals, Office visit and pre-joining briefings.
  • Ensure company disciplinary process is adhered to by assisting the client in applying the policies.
  • Delivery of seafarers debriefing.
  • Understand Marine Industry regulatory and certification legislation including but not limited to ISM Code, STCW and MLC 2006.
  • Understand Employment structures (offshore employment) and applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA’s).
  • Responsible for ensuring vessel crewing matrix is distributed from Crewing database to relevant industry sites.
  • Process promotion and terminations in line with employer instructions.
  • Coordinate of NMM and client specific company inductions (including delivery of Crewing elements)
  • Liaison with the training department on scheduling of training courses for personnel under their responsibility.
  • Attend and input to meetings and management reporting as and when required, to meet strict deadlines.
  • Other Administrative duties i.e., Absence maintenance, Expense claims, planning and rota management.
  • You may be asked from time to time be asked to undertake other tasks within the NMMS function including Recruitment, Training, Payroll, Scheduling and Cadet Management that are relevant to your position.

 

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Significant experience in maritime HR/logistics role or equivalent experience
  • Excellent knowledge of flag requirements and other statutory requirements for seafarers
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage complex problems, with an ability to think analytically
  • Experience building networks and developing knowledge

Desirable

  • Previous experience mentoring individuals would be desirable to support both individual and company development goals.
