This candidate leads the sustainability agenda across the whole of ship management – Technical, crewing, HSEQ, and associated support functions. They will also lead the energy management team whilst ensuring the company meets all objectives with regards to ISO 50001. Ensure the company meets all reporting requirements in relation to DCS and MRV reporting. They will engage with the NMG Compliance Director to ensure ship managements sustainability strategy aligns with that of NMG and Stena AB
Be the focal point for the sustainability agenda across the whole of the ship management organisation ensuring the ESG goals are delivered in line with NMG and Stena AB strategy.
Engage with clients to ensure our sustainability goals are fully understood and ensure they understand the added value we bring to their business
Drive innovation across the organisation to look at ways in which we can operate more sustainably without increasing the cost base to NMG SM
Deliver all statutory reporting defined by legislation within the define time deadlines.
Translate incoming ESG reporting requirements relevant to the group and build a framework for our reporting obligations.
Develop an annual ESG report for the Group both within the UK and globally.
Conduct detailed industry and Company wide reporting gap analyses to identify opportunities for Northern Marine and benchmark against best practice. Make recommendations to the General Manager to consider.
Support the oversight of ESG metrics tracking
Working collaboratively with other teams globally to ensure that data collected is accurate and assess any trends and developments.
Ensure the ship management business remains relevant and up to date in the industry, through attendance at industry events and forums. Use this knowledge to drive media posts on social media to ensure we are seen as relevant in the marketplace

Bachelor’s degree level or equivalent sea going experience
Demonstrate a strong knowledge and influence in sustainability and energy management
Significant experience in a management level role or equivalent experience
Experience within sustainability or energy management sphere
Experience in the Maritime industry
Experience and high level of awareness of non-financial reporting and ESG standards and reporting frameworks
Familiarity with ESG rating indexes and sustainability reporting trends
Ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and develop deep content knowledge quickly
Experience supporting the achievement of culture change in relation to ESG within a large, complex organisation utilising developed project management skills and ability to converse with all levels within an organisation
