Northern Marine partners with The Mission to Seafarers

4th Aug 2020

Northern Marine has partnered with The Mission to Seafarers to help support and expand wellbeing services available to the men and women who work at sea to keep our global economy afloat.

For more than 160 years the maritime welfare charity has provided care services to seafarers in need around the world either digitally or in person across its strategically placed centres.

Their work includes supporting seafarers and advocating on their behalf, chaplaincy support and much more.

By becoming a corporate partner, Northern Marine will work more closely with the charity to offer expanded support to its seafarers.

Dhan Swadi, Personnel Director, Northern Marine said: “Providing comprehensive support to our seafarers and their families has been part of Northern Marine’s ethos since its inception almost 40 years ago, and this new partnership is another long-term strategic venture to further ensure our seafarers and their families are supported now and, in the years to come.”

“The partnership will offer us the opportunities to work closely with The Mission to provide support to seafarers both on the vessel and ashore.

“Support services such as Digital Chaplaincy are available to seafarers and their families.

“As seafarers around the world are having to extend their tours as a result of restrictions created by COVID19, support services such as those provided by The Mission have never been more important.”

Maurizio Borgatti, Head of Corporate Partnerships, The Mission to Seafarers said: “A true charity partnership of value is a mutually beneficial collaboration between a business and a charity who share a passion and commitment to sustainable change.

“The Mission believes that with Northern Marine, we have the starting point for such a relationship.

“With the support of Northern Marine, we will deliver a positive impact on the welfare and mental wellbeing of all the seafarers and the crews we support. These are exceptionally difficult times for all seafarers, but partnerships like this offer hope for a better future.”
